Mysuru: Food & fun – All eyes on Dasara flower show
Mysuru: A floral model of India's "Mission moon" and a 27 ft tall replica of Mysuru king of old, Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar made of four lakh rosebuds are among the many stunning displays at the 11-day Dasara flower show at the Nishad bhag in the city this year.
Visitors will also be met with floral models of the Mysuru palace's golden throne, vintage cars, a piano, a 40 ft reel and camera to mark 85 years of the Kannada film industry, a European style vertical garden and a pottery garden, among a host of other attractions.
While the evenings will come alive with three 20- minute musical fountain shows, there will also be workshops for farmers, and floral rangoli and flower arrangement contests. Meanwhile, the Dasara Exhibition Authority is preparing for the 90 -day Dasara exhibition, which begins on September 29 . As many as 42 government stalls will showcase its various schemes and programmes and stalls of the zilla panchayats of different districts will focus on regional attractions, including tourism destinations at the event. Another 150 commercial stalls will offer products from different parts of the country, including Dasara dolls, handicrafts and handlooms.
The food court with its 100 stalls will tickle visitors' tastebuds with the Mysuru masala dosa, Davangere masal dosa, mallige idly, mirchi bajji and various other dishes.
The Rs 8.25 crore tender for the exhibition has this year been awarded to Fun World and Resorts Private India.
