Govt staff seeks early salary in October
HYDERABAD: Government employees have sought that their September salary be credited on October 1 ahead of Vijayadasami, October 5. The government has been paying salaries in phases till the third or fourth week of every month due to financial constraints post-Covid-19.
The government requires nearly Rs 4,000 crore per month to pay salaries and pensions. Employees in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts are paid in the first week while in other districts payments are done until the third or fourth week
According to employee unions, officials have divided six districts into each cluster as per alphabetical order to cover all the 33 districts. The additional three small districts are also covered in these six clusters.
An employees’ union leader said, "When we approach finance and treasury officials, they say they are following the alphabetical order for payments. If that was so, how could employees in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts receive salaries by the seventh of every month."
Employees are angry at their leaders for maintaining silence while they continue to suffer. "Earlier, union leaders used to be aggressive and question governments if salaries and pensions were delayed. These days, the leaders cozy up to the ruling party for their personal benefits," alleged an employee.
