Hyderabad: Official checks polling booths

The observer reviewed the places and shared his opinions about them, said DCP, South Zone, Amber Kishore Jha.

Hyderabad: Chief Election Observer of Hyderabad L.V. Antony Dev Kumar was in the Charminar area on Monday to check sensitive polling stations.

Speaking to DC about the checks, a police officer said the polling stations were checked for safety and the locals were asked about their previous voting experience and if they were facing any difficulties or threats.

Last Thursday, similar checks were carried out at Chandrayangutta, Bhavaninagar and Santoshnagar areas and arrangements reviewed for the forthcoming polls.

“We were given standard instructions to follow during the elections. The observer reviewed the places and shared his opinions about them,” said DCP, South Zone, Amber Kishore Jha.

Mr Kumar visited the Charminar police station and two hyper-critical polling stations which fall under its jurisdiction.

“Mr Kumar interacted with the locals and asked them for any complaints regarding the elections and related issues,” an official from the Charminar police said.

On Friday, Mr Kumar had visited the Langer Houz police station and polling stations under the police stations in Karwan. He also went to Hashimnagar and Prashanthnagar polling stations situated at Dr B.R. Ambedkar Government Upper Primary School and those under the Golconda police limits. In addition, he went to polling stations situated at Akbarpura community hall, Akbarpura, Tolichowki and interacted with the people there. Asifnagar ACP N. Narasimha Reddy and Langer Houz inspector CH. Srinivas were present.
