Hyderabad: TRS flag on cop van pic goes viral
Hyderabad: A photograph of a police vehicle from the Rachakonda commissionerate flying a TRS flag has gone viral on social media and prompted criticism of the police being biased towards one political party.
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat on Monday said that the flag was tied to the police patrolling vehicle by some miscreants to tarnish the image of the police and the police is trying to trace and nab the person responsible.
On November 23, 2018, the Rachakonda police patrol vehicle was parked on the road as the policemen were on duty at a public meeting caretaker minister K.T. Rama Rao was holding at Uppal. “A miscreant clicked photographs of the car after tying a political party flag to it and shared it online. Soon after taking the photograph, that miscreant removed the flag and fled. Since then the pictures have been circulating on social media and doing false propaganda against the police. Any prudent person can understand the very bad intention of the miscreants by just observing the photograph keenly and the way the flag was tied to the car,” said Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat.
The commissioner said an inquiry has started to find those responsible, and the driver of the vehicle “who is supposed to be at the vehicle, has been attached to headquarters till the inquiry is completed”.
Morphed pictures too are circulating on social media to blame the police and other government servants as elections draw nearer, the commissioner said.
He urged citizens not to believe false social media propaganda and not to share, comment on fake posts. “The state police are discharging their duties impartially without fear or favour to any person or organisation or party,” he said.
