Illicit affairs lead to many murders
Visakhapatnam: Illicit affairs and suspicion on the fidelity of spouses were found to be the major reasons for many of the murders in north Andhra. Recently, Vizag city cops have solved two murder mysteries at two different places and the cops said illicit affairs led to the two murders. Police said that lack of strong relationship between wives and husbands was leading to more illegal affairs not just in Vizag city but also in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts.
In many of the cases, the spouses are either taking revenge on the other or trying to eliminate the other, with the help of their paramours. A senior advocate and President of Forum of Legal Professionals, Kuppili Muralidhar said illicit relationships have increased and also become one of the major reasons for seeking divorce among young couples in Vizag city. “Either the husband or the wife is knowing about the illegal affair or suspecting their partner over extra-marital affair and filing for divorce at the family courts. In some extreme cases, they are even killing their partners, he added.
A senior police officer said at least 20-25 murders in a year in north Andhra region are due to illicit affairs. In most of the cases, the women are the victims. In a few others, women, with the support of their paramours, are killing their husbands to avoid trouble in living with the man of their choice. “However, all these murders due to illicit affairs and sexual jealousy are being buried under various categories like family quarrels, personal enmity and love affairs,” he added.
DCPs Dr C.M. Trivikram Varma and Dr G. Ram Gopal Naik said murders due to illicit affairs are done either due to a sudden provocation or as a revenge. In very few cases, the accused surrender before the cops and confess the crime. In a majority of the cases, the accused try to mislead the cops and try to depict the death as a suicide or an accidental death.
