TN: Man stands upside down to protest against NEET
Tiruvannamalai: Opposing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, a man on Monday did a handstand for sometime at the Collectorate here alleging that it will hurt the interests of students.
Kolanjiyappan, who claimed to be a teacher in a private school stood on his hands and rested his legs against a wall and remained in that posture for some time at the Collectorate premises.
When asked by police and journalists, he said he was resorting to handstand to register his protest against NEET.
He said, "NEET will hurt students and the rural poor and the exam must not be forced upon them."
A senior district official told PTI that the man moved out of the premises after his protest.
Tamil Nadu is opposing NEET and recently, the State Assembly adopted two bills facilitating continuation of the present system of admitting students to medical colleges on the basis of 12th standard marks.
