Nellore: Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan clueless about its jobs
Nellore: Vigilance and enforc-ement teams which inspected seasonal hostels and RSTCs alleged that commitment as well as awareness are miserably absent among concerned officials of the Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan implementing the two programmes.
Not only NGOs running the schemes, even officials, do not seem to have required knowledge about the do and don’ts of the schemes, a vigilance official said.
According to him, the funding agency, the SSA is in a complete paralysed state and does not possess even the names and addresses of the organisers who undertook implementation of the programmes.
It took two days for the agency to furnish details to the V&E wing and a senior official pleaded ignorance of the schemes under the plea that he was posted recently.
The mandal education officers who are supposed to supervise and certify the smooth functioning of the centres have no idea about their existence. The entire fabric of alternate schooling fell apart as far as its system and functioning are concerned due to lack of coordination among the stake holders, a senior official of V&E alleged.
Though there is a provision that each NGO volunteering for the scheme shall be given Rs 50,000 as a start up amount to meet basic requirements, this was not being followed in any of the eight SH/RSTCs. In fact the dues of the previous year were not reimbursed, showing the state of affairs as far as finances are concerned, he added.
