Minister calls for tech intervention in animal husbandry
Hyderabad: Union animal husbandry minister Parshottam Rupala said technology could play a crucial role in the field of animal husbandry, fisheries and dairying sectors.
“I feel that animal husbandry and fisheries started even before agriculture. Now, it is very important that there should be technological intervention,” said Rupala at the Grand Startup Conclave on animal husbandry and dairy on Tuesday.
“This is an open invitation for the youth to join and make technological interventions in animal husbandry, fisheries and dairying,” he said.
Dr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, minister of state, and state minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav also spoke at the conclave.
The conclave was organised by the Union department of animal husbandry and dairying to promote start-ups in the livestock, dairy and animal husbandry sectors. The conclave included showcasing of select start-ups, a pitch fest, a buyer-seller meet and a workshop for early-stage start-ups in the sectors.
“The agriculture diversification through animal husbandry is one of the primary drivers of growth in rural incomes and higher public investment in the livestock sector is the need of the hour,” the minister said.
Dr L. Murugan, minister of state, highlighted that India stood third in the world with more than 1 lakh start-ups, third in egg exports and eighth in meat exports.
