Causes of Chronic Kidney Disease not yet found: Vijayasai Reddy
Visakhapatnam: A Central team has visited the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh to investigate the burden of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Uddhanam region. However, no single causative aetiology was found by them. Minister of state for health and family welfare Anupriya Patel said this in a reply to the question posed by YSR Congress MP V. Vijayasai Reddy in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
According to the government of Andhra Pradesh, kidney failure incidences are reported from Prakasam and Krishna districts also. King George Hospital at Vizag is the referral centre for CKD patients in the state. There are five dialysis centres available in Srikakulam district at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Community Health Centre at Sompeta and area hospitals at Tekkali, Palakonda and Palasa. Another 15 special mobile medical clinics are also functioning in Uddanam area of Srikakulam district for early detection and management of CKD of unknown aetiology.
