Haven’t files plaint against constable, says Sa Ra Mahesh
Mysuru: Minister Sa Ra Mahesh clarified on Wednesday that he had not filed any complaint against the head constable, who has been reportedly suspended for stopping his car when he arrived to accompany Mr C H Vijayshankar of the Congress to the deputy commissioner's office to file his nomination for the Mysuru- Kodagu constituency here on Monday.
Mr Mahesh explained that the head constable had stopped his car half a kilometre from the deputy commissioner’s office although the prohibition order only applied to a radius of 100 meters around it. “He later allowed us to proceed after some senior officers intervened,” the minister said, adding that the head constable may have been suspended after a departmental investigation into the matter.
Going by the police, head constable Venkatesh of the Kuvempunagar police station was suspended as he had stopped the minister’s car near the Maharani’s arts college-JLB road junction when there was absolutely no reason to do so.
Meanwhile, Dr H C Mahadevappa, who has been lying low after his defeat in the last assembly elections, campaigned for Mr Vijayshankar in Mysuru district on Wednesday. Addressing the Congress labour wing, he deplored that communalism had risen in the country over the past five years and urged all opposition parties to unite to keep it bay by defeating the BJP. He, however, cautioned that elections were not a licence for personal attacks.
