Kavitha's counsel appears before ED in connection with Delhi liquor scam

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha's counsel on Tuesday appeared before the ED in Delhi, after the agency’s joint director on Monday had asked her or her representative to appear before them in order to access the mobile phones which she had submitted to the agency, as a part of the investigation into the Delhi liquor scam.

Accordingly, BRS legal counsel Soma Bharat appeared before the ED in Delhi on Tuesday. It was learnt that in his presence, the nine mobile phones submitted by Kavitha were opened and data extracted from them.

Earlier, the phone numbers and IMEI numbers of the mobile phones that she displayed to the media before submitting them to the ED indicated that two IMEI numbers did not match those mentioned by the ED in its remand report.

It was then not clear whether Kavitha submitted her used phone numbers and IMEI numbers that were mentioned in the ED remand report or submitted additional phones that were used by her later. The investigation on this aspect is in process, it was learnt.
