Telangana: Development, greenery top agenda at plenary
Khammam: The 15th plenary of the TRS, held in Khammam on Wednesday, tried to explain the aims and aspirations of the government and the schemes and projects being taken up to develop the newly-created state fruitfully.
The plenary stressed that the state did not need industries alone to generate employment, but also a conducive atmosphere: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao cited a stanza in his speech on how a dheerudu (hero) will not rest, but will always be engaged in serving society. He was keen on every resolution, elaborating on some of the flagship programmes in detail and their importance in Telangana state.
TRS’ main focus is funds, employment and water, but it wants to establish a healthy environment in the state under the party leadership. Referring to the green initiative, ‘Harita Haaram’, the CM said, “Canada has 8,000 trees per person, Russia 4,000, USA 2,000, China 102 and India 28.”
Mr Rao, who was cautious about referring to the Election Commission’s decision to shift the collector, SP and returning officer of Palair, confined his speech to explaining the government’s policies without making any new promises.
When SC Corporation chairman extended support for the resolution on fine rice, he explained how to do so at the party plenary. He also advised MLAs to stay in their seats and not wander about in the gallery.
District MLAs J. Venkat Rao and Puvvada Ajay Kumar were asked to go to the gallery and occupy the delegates’ area when somebody stood up and began shouting. Mr Rao, who laid the foundation stone for the TRS building in Khammam, said that district party presidents should propose such buildings in all districts.
