Anudeep Durishetty tops at UPSC
Hyderabad: Metapally boy Anudeep Durishetty, who has topped the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) main exams, says he cannot get enough of reading about artificial intelligence. The 27-year-old, who bagged top spot in the exams held in October, 2017, is joined by V.V. Sai Praneeth, son of former IPS officer J.D. Lakshmi Narayana, who secured 196th position on his first attempt.
Anudeep says this was his fifth shot at the UPSC exam, and despite having found a job with the Indian Revenue Service and Customs & Central Excise thanks to his 2013 attempt, he continued to aim higher. Of the previous four times when Anudeep appeared for the exam, he was recommended for appointment once, in 2013.
A sports buff, Anudeep often turned to sports to take a break from studying. An ardent Arsenal football club fan, Anudeep also draws inspiration from tennis superstar Roger Fede-rer, and captained the football team at the National Academy of Customs Excise & Narcotics.
A bright student in school, Anudeep scored 87.8 per cent as a student of Suryodaya High School, and a brilliant 97 per cent in his 12th boards from Chaitanya Junior College. He went on to earn a BE degree with a GPA of 7.3 in Electronics and Instrum-ents from BITS Pilani, Rajasthan.
He was then recruited by Google India, where he worked as product quality analyst for a year before he cleared the UPSC in 2013.
Currently an assistant commissioner for the revenue department, Anudeep lists the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in that order, as his preferred services.
The UPSC main exam was conducted on October 28, 2017, and 990 candidates recommended for appointment to the IAS, IFS, IPS and other Central services, divided into Group A and B on the basis of the results of the UPSC written exam held in October and the personality test interviews held from February-April, 2018.
