BRS party to launch month-long campaign in May

Adilabad: The BRS party will undertake a month-long campaign in May to highlight the Telangana government’s welfare schemes and explain to the people that the central government made no contributions for these schemes.

BRS leaders said they have prepared a list of the state’s welfare schemes and the funds the KCR-led government has invested in them in the last nine years. They have also prepared a list of the beneficiaries of each scheme at assembly, mandal and village levels. “Our leaders will target the BJP and mostly ignore the Congress during their campaigns,” party sources said.

BRS would organise mandal and village level meetings in this connection and undertake door-to-door visits as well during the month. The BRS government's second term is ending by December, before which assembly polls would take place.

The party high command led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is pinning their hopes on the people’s appreciation of the welfare schemes being implemented by the government and that these would convert into votes in the assembly polls. The schemes include the Aasara pensions, Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, Dalit Bandhu, 24-hour free power supply and Rythu Bheema schemes.

BRS leaders would, in special, focus on the beneficiaries of the welfare schemes. Sitting MLAs, ZP chairman, MPTC and ZPTCs and Sarpanches would participate in the door-to-door campaign.

They would explain to the people that the central government has not funded the schemes like Mission Kakatiya and Bhagiratha even after the NITI Aayog recommended funding to states from the central government. The leaders would also highlight the fact that the central government did not sanction even a single medical college in Telangana and ignored the state’s plea for a tribal university.

Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna said, “We have already identified issues for the campaigning in the meetings at mandal and village levels next coming month.”
