Hyderabad Witnesses Scattered Rains and Intense Heat, Yellow Alert Issued
Hyderabad: The city experienced short scattered but intense spells at some places Sunday afternoon while the remaining areas were simmering in high temperatures and heat.
Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Punjagutta, Begumpet, Greenlands, Ameerpet, Filmnagar, and Somajiguda had light rains along with sunny weather whereas other areas experienced a cloud sky with intense heat.
Across the state, it rained in isolated places of Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kamareddy, Medak, Medchal Malkajgiri, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Siddipet and Yadadri Bhuvangiri districts.
Meanwhile, 10 districts in the state were put in the red category of warning as the highest maximum temperatures ranged from 45 degrees Celsius to 46.1ºC with Nalgonda at 46.1ºC, followed by Mahbubabad and Karimnagar at 45.5ºC and Mulugu at 45.2ºC, as per the report of TS Development and Planning Society.
According to the IMD, two weather systems were running from Telangana — one was cyclonic over Telangana state and neighbourhoods at 0.9 km above mean sea level and another a north-south trough running from Vidarbha to south Tamil Nadu across Telangana, north Tamil Nadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
Owing to these two weather systems, light to moderate rains with thundershowers are very likely to be experienced at isolated places over Telangana for the next five days.
A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms accompanied with lightning for the districts of Komaram Bheem, Mancherial, Jagtial, Pedapally, Khammam, Jayashankar, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy and nearby areas.
For the next 48 hours, the city will have a partly cloudy sky while light to moderate rains with thundershowers are very likely to occur towards evening or night.
Maximum and temperatures are likely to be around 40ºC and 28ºC, respectively. Surface winds are likely to north-westerlies with a speed of 4-8 kmph with a relative humidity of 45 per cent.
