Leopard found dead in Hassan
The carcass was burnt by forest officials after necropsy.
Hassan: A male leopard was found dead after being caught in a snare at Neekanahalli of Sakleshpur in Hassan on Wednesday. The carcass was burnt by forest officials after necropsy.
Assistant Conservator of Forests, Lingaraju, told Deccan Chronicle that somebody had set up a snare to catch a wild boar but a leopard got trapped and died. The snare squeezed its abdomen leading to its death.
Mr Lingaraju suspects that the leopard might have been caught in the snare on Tuesday night while the carcass of the animal was discovered on Wednesday morning. He expressed confidence that culprits who had installed the snare would be nabbed soon.
