Bandi to Stay TS BJP Chief: Chugh
Hyderabad: BJP national general secretary and Telangana state incharge Tarun Chugh on Wednesday stated that MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar will continue as the BJP state president and that the party would go for the Assembly elections under his leadership.
This ended speculation doing the rounds over the past few days that Union minister G. Kishan Reddy was set to replace Bandi Sanjay as the state unit head for the Assembly polls.
Addressing mediapersons in Delhi, Chugh said: “Sab juti khabar hai Aisa kuch nahi hai. Ek baar humne spasht kar diya hai. Iske baad kuch kehne ki avashkata nahi hai’ (All are false news about change of Sanjay Kumar as BJP state president. There is no proposal in this regard. We have already made it clear. There is no need for further comment on this).”
Kishan Reddy also confirmed that there was no such plan and called the news false propaganda being pushed by a section of society. “There is no proposal with the BJP high command to change party president in Telangana state ahead of Assembly elections,” he said.
Kishan Reddy, also in New Delhi, said that there was no confusion among party activists over a change of party state president from Sanjay Kumar. “Meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah by Telangana state leaders is a regular assignment. There is no proposal to make me BJP state president and Sanjay Kumar a Union minister,” Kishan Reddy said.
Sanjay Kumar, addressing mediapersons at the Secunderabad Railway Station, where he was welcoming BJP workers, attacked news broadcasters for carrying a malicious campaign to undermine him, at the behest of other political parties.
“Party national leaders including Telangana state incharge Tarun Chugh made it clear that there is no change of state president. The BJP cadre also understood the intention of few channels over change of BJP state president,” he said.
Accusing Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of the negative campaign, he said: “For the last year, a section of the media aired the news over the change of state BJP president, but it didn’t happen.”
Senior BJP leader and former MP A.P. Jithender Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was trying to mislead the people over the prospects of Opposition parties.
“There is no proposal to change of Sanjay Kumar as BJP state president. It is unnecessarily creating confusion among the BJP cadre over change of state president. It is a manipulation of the ruling BRS over affairs of BJP,” he said.
Jithender Reddy said: “Few TV channels are carrying false information about the change of BJP state president. The BJP high command did not take any decision like constituting of election campaign committee or change of party president.”
He said he is confident that they will overcome all the hurdles and emerge a strong contender in the upcoming Assembly polls.
