Traffic halts on Chennai's TTK road as Karunanidhi supporters throng outside hospital
Chennai: The influx of politicians, party supporters, well wishers outside Kauvery Hospital, where DMK chief M Karunanidhi has been admitted, continued to increase leading to traffic on the bustling TTK road in Chennai to come to a standstill on Saturday.
Policemen deployed in the area had a difficult time controlling the crowd, while patients, visitors and hospital staff struggled to enter the hospital.
According to reports, a narrow stretch laden with broken stones, between a transformer and the compound wall is the only way to enter and exit the premises.
“The hospital could have warned us or made provisions for a separate entrance for us,” S Saraswathi whose 11-year-old son is undergoing cancer treatment at the hospital told The Times of India.
Saraswathi, like many other visitors, had to scale a wall with the help of two police personnel to get inside.
