Lucknow: In a shocking incident, stray dogs mutilated a dead body kept in the mortuary of the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Lucknow.
According to Dr D.S. Negi, director, Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, the services of security supervisor, ward boy and guard have been terminated.
Principal secretary health Prashant Trivedi said that an inquiry had been ordered into the incident and an FIR had also been lodged by the Lucknow police.
According to reports, Pushpa had been admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening by her husband Vinod Kumar after she consumed sulphas tablets. She died during treatment and her body was shifted to the mortuary later in the night. The post-mortem was scheduled to be held on Sunday.
However, on Sunday morning, when the security staff entered the mortuary, they saw the dogs feeding on the body and informed the concerned officials. The entire face of the body had been eaten away by the canines.
The hospital authorities could not say how the dogs entered the mortuary when the gates were locked.
The women’s relatives were not available and sources said that they had been promised ‘adequate compensation’ by the hospital authorities.
