Hyderabad: Building work irks commuters of babukhan lane

Despite complaints by the nearby residents the work has not been completed so far.

Hyderabad: Residents and commuters who often travel via Babukhan Lane in Gachibowli are facing inconvenience as the building work has been under construction for more than one year now. In last one year two private buildings have been completed to finish in the same locality, but this work could not be completed, alleged the commuters.

Despite complaints by the nearby residents the work has not been completed so far. The construction has also become a risky ride for commuters, as only one car can fit in the lane at one time; the constant digging work has affected many residents in the area.

Ms Deeksha Thakur a commuter said, “Construction work for a prime road Babukhan Lane, P. Janardhan Reddy Nagar, Gachibowli has been under construction for over one year now. Within the past one year two private buildings have been completed to finish in the same locality, but this government work could not be completed’’.

She adds, “I have heard that it is a Rs 100 crore road project, and the rate at which the work is happening has been causing trouble to residents, and has been a cause of accidents as well. People have taken it to GHMC, raised complaints and tweeted about it throughout the year and all we got were assurances. Nothing has been done so far’’.

Mr Gautam Singh another resident said, “After the residents made several complaints we were promised to finish by August 21 but the work is still going on’’.

He added, “Before they started the construction we used this lane as an alternate road to Gachibowli ORR and now we are not able to use the shortcut to ORR which has lead to more traffic towards Gachibowli–Miyapur road. During the monsoon the road becomes mess because the road is still under construction.”

A senior official said, “The project wing has taken up the work and it will be finished as soon as possible.”
