Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) along with the officials of Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) inspected the project site of Dragonstone Realty Pvt Ltd at Technopark Phase III following the direction from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) recently.
The NGT had issued a stay order stalling construction activities following a complaint received from the NGO – Environment Protection and Research Council (EPRC).
It accuses the company of obtaining prior environment clearance (EC) for the project by concealing the facts about the actual built-up area of the project. The NGT in its July order directed the firm not to undertake any construction at the project site without clearance and directed the CPCB to submit a factual report on the ground level before August 29.
KSPCB chairman Ajit Haridas said that an inspection was carried out and the company placed application for getting mandatory consent from PCB only for one of the constructions.
“We would be submitting a factual report, and there is no complication in granting consent for the projects. The company has to submit the proposals on the facilities for scientific management of solid, liquid waste and air pollution. If the facilities are adequate, we will grant the consent,” he told DC.
S.J. Sanjeev of EPRC alleged that the environment clearance obtained by the company got expired.
“The actual built-up area of the project was 3.49 lakh sqm, which would bring the project within the Category A and the party has given 1.33 lakh sqm in the application for EC to bring the project in Category B for getting the clearance,” he said.
