HMRL holds drone survey for Metro Rail in Old City
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) on Sunday carried out a drone survey of the proposed route of the Metro Rail in the Old City on Sunday to identify properties that need to be acquired to widen roads for the purpose. The survey focused on the narrow stretch between Darulshifa and Shalibanda junctions, a statement by HMRL managing director N.V.S. Reddy said.
The work is being speeded up on the instructions of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao
Reddy said protecting 103 important religious and sensitive structures while constructing the Metro Rail was a significant challenge. The drone survey aimed to find effective engineering solutions to preserve these sites, ensuring that the viaduct and pillars do not affect them.
Drones can swiftly gather real-time data, create detailed images, 3D models, and integrate information from GIS and computer programs, aiding in better data understanding, he stated
Simultaneously, plans are being finalized to begin soil investigation from the Falaknuma side, where a Metro Rail station will come up. Along with the existing MGBS station, the 5.5-km Old City Metro Rail route will have four more stations —Salar Jung Museum, Charminar, Shalibanda and Falaknuma.
