External pressure behind Anitha suicide: NCSC vice-chairman
Chennai: National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) vice chairman L. Murugan on Wednesday stirred a hornet’s nest by alleging the role of ‘external forces’ in having a hand in the suicide of Anitha, a medical aspirant from Ariyalur who died fighting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Neet).
Addressing mediapersons in the city on Wednesday, the NCSC vice chairman said, “The girl was ready to take up aeronautical Engineering. There was some external force pushing her, threatening her. I don’t think the suicide was because of her family’s circumstance. There was some external force.”
Murugan further said that Neet is required and urged the state government to prepare students to compete at national and international level.
Pointing out that the police had filed only an interim report on Anitha’s death, Murugan said, “We have also asked for a detailed report from the superintendent of police, Ariyalur in the next 15 days.”
