Hassan: Villagers residing near Hanumanahalli lake on Arkalgudu road had a rude shock on Wednesday morning when they came across a body afloat in the lake.
After the police was called it turned out that a car had fallen into the lake a couple of days ago and five people, including three women, had died in the accident.
The police, along with fire force personnel, fished out all the bodies, while a crane was used to lift the car from the lake.
Police have identified the dead as Anil, a resident of Tattekere in Hassan, Umesh of Shivamogga and Anju, a resident of Arasikere. Two other women are yet to be identified.
Holenarsipur rural police have registered a case.
