Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said the state government is dedicatedly working for the uninterrupted supply of power by increasing transmission capacity and constructing new power projects and substations.
Jagan Mohan Reddy launched 12 new APTransco sub-stations and laid foundation stones for 16 new sub-stations across AP and for a 750mw solar power project in Kadapa and a 100mw solar power project in Anantapur worth Rs 6,600 crore.
The state government also signed an MoU with HPCL for setting up solar and wind energy plants of 500mw each and a 250mw PSP plant with an investment of Rs 10,000 crore. This would have an employment potential for 1,500 persons, he said.
Senior officials of the energy department and HPCL exchanged MoU copies in the presence of the Chief Minister.
Inaugurating the sub-stations and laying the stone virtually from the Camp Office here on Tuesday, the CM said the government was committed to supplying quality power to all regions across the state.
The Chief Minister dedicated the new sub-stations to the service of the locals.
He said, “Today 12 sub-stations built at a cost of Rs 620 crore in Alluri Sitarama Raju, Sri Satya Sai, Eluru, Palnadu, Nellore, Annamayya and Kadapa districts have been opened and we laid the foundation stone for 16 sub-stations in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, BR Ambedkar Konaseema, West Godavari, Guntur, Prakasam, Nandyal and Kurnool districts. These are built with Rs 2,479 crore.”
He said the solar power projects coming up with an investment of Rs 3,400 crore at the solar parks at Kadapa and Anantapur will have an employment potential for 1,700 persons.
Jagan Mohan Reddy said that with the new sub-stations across the state, the supply and transmission capacity would be upgraded. “Most of the power problems would be solved. The people in submergible mandals like Kunavaram, Chintur, VR Puram, and Etipaka would also receive quality power.”
He said the government had spent Rs 1,700 crore in the initial days for enhancing the feeder capacity to supply nine-hour free power to farmers during the time.
The Chief Minister said the government has also signed an agreement with a solar energy corporation for producing 17,000 million units of solar power in the state and supplying 13,000 million units of power to the agricultural sector at the rate of Rs 2.49 per unit as against the usual average unit cost of Rs 5.30.
Thereby, we are reducing the burden of the state exchequer on the free power supply to the farmers. SECI would make available 3,000mw, 3,000mw, and 1,000mw solar power by September 2024, September 2025, and September 2026 respectively, the CM stressed.
Energy minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, chief secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy, energy special CS K. Vijayanand, APGENCO MD Chakradhar Babu, APTRANSCO JMD Malla Reddy, and representatives of the HPCL, Ayana Power, Spring Agnitra, Solar Energy AP Six Pvt Ltd and Avera AI Mobility Pvt Ltd were among those present.
