Andhra Pradesh Assembly to discuss deliberations
Vijayawada: The AP Assembly will discuss the deliberations adopted during the National Women’s Parliament scheduled for next month in Vijayawada. The House scheduled to meet in Velgapudi after the NWP, will discuss the Women Reservations Bill exclusively for AP and will go for special Legislation. Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said that the deliberations of the NWP will be discussed in the Assembly sessions. “We want the Members to discuss the deliberations,” Mr Rao said.
He said that the he would be pleased if the House initiates a discussion on Women Reservations Bill, and see that it would become Legislation. “As the Speaker of the House, I have ample time of 300 days since the House will be there for around two months only,” he said, and added that during his tenure he wants to contribute to the betterment of women in the state.
“Deliberations on women’s health, education, welfare, equal rights in property and employment, and women harassment issues at NWP will be tabled in the House, for a healthy outcome from AP Assembly,” the Speaker explained. “I am happy if the House prepares Legislation over the said issues and the same is sent to Parliament,” Mr Rao said, added that the first Assembly sessions scheduled in Velagapudi, in the new state will enhance the decorum of the House.
The Speaker, a doctor by education, recollected the painful memories of his childhood. “It was during my childhood days I lost four members of my family in Nakirekallu in Palnadu to smallpox,” he said, adding that it was the turning point in his life.
