Kochi Metro to launch innovation challenge'

The agency claimed it has made standardised information available for all through its open data policy.

KOCHI: Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) will launch the station access and mobility programme (STAMP) data innovation challenge-Kochi on Wednesday.

The nationwide competition to seek innovative solutions to improve public transit connectivity from technology providers, mobility entrepreneurs, NGOs, developers, city and transport planners and students. The challenge will be to co-create solutions for bridging gaps in multimodal integration, seamless commuting and customer experience.

KMRL managing director A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish will launch the event, organised in association with thew World Resources Institute (WRI) India Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF).

The agency claimed it has made standardised information available for all through its open data policy. The challenge will continue to build upon the KMRL’s open data policy in a pursuit to make mobility services more accessible to commuters, it claimed. “Through the Challenge, we intent to find innovative ways of utilising the vast data to the advantage of public as well as transit operators,” said Mr Mohammed Hanish.

The TMF and WRI India have worked together to assist several other cities in improving access and last mile connectivity to mass transit systems. The selected applications/concepts may get an opportunity to associate with KMRL.
