Hyderabad: S. Aravind, who got electrocuted in the city early on Monday, had not informed his parents about attending the recruitment rally. He arrived in the city along with his friends on Sunday night.
The same night, his father Anjalanna, who works as an electrician on a contract basis at Jurala Project in Gadwal, went to attend some emergency work and went to sleep very late.
He smelt something amiss when he got a phone call around 4.30 am. He was shocked to learn about his son’s death.
His son had last spoken to him three days ago and he had not told him about visiting the city for the recruitment rally.
“I wouldn’t have allowed my son to attend the rally, despite his aspiring since childhood to serve the nation,” said a sobbing Saika Anjalanna. “We are only left with memories now. He informed none of us about going to Hyderabad.”
Anjalanna, who had come to collect his son’s body at Gandhi Hospital mortuary said his son’s only aspiration was to join the Indian Army. “I was reluctant to send him to the border. But he came to the city without informing any family member.”
While his friends sat close to the ground, Aravind went to climb the garbage heap. “We advised him to be careful, as other friends had noticed the hanging electricity wires. Within seconds he died,” said K. Raghavendra, a friend of Aravind who witnessed his death.
“Aravind has an elder brother, Anand, who is pursuing third-year in graduation. His mother Sankaramma has not yet been informed about the death,” said Mahesh, another eye-witness and friend of Aravind.
