KOCHI: State Women’s Commission Chairperson M.C. Josephine has warned people going for remarriages against falling into traps set by fraudsters. The commission has received a huge number of such cases at the district level mega adalat held here on Monday.
While inaugurating the adalat, she said that government should act upon these cases and take strict action against the fraudsters.
“In remarriages, both the families do not intend to look into the family background of the other before taking the final decision, unlike the first marriage. Almost all the remarriages occur only depending on the advertisements available in websites and news papers. This helps the fraudsters very much,” said Josephine.
She also said that friendship should have some restrictions inside the house and family members should be vigilant on that.
It was after the adalat has received a case of a woman whose nude pictures have been shared across the social media by her husband’s friends. As per the complaint, the accused were taking revenge against her husband for not settling up the financial debts with them.
The adalat considered 91 petitions of which 22 have been settled. During the sitting, 17 cases were sent for police report while three petitions were referred for counselling. RDO’s report has been sought on four petitions. Meanwhile, 45 cases were postponed to the next sitting.
Commission members Shiji Sivaji, M.S Thara, E.M Radha, legal panel officials A.E Aliar, Anny Paul, Women Cell sub-inspector Sone Mary Paul also attended.
