TRS faithful may get their nominated posts finally
HYDERABAD: With all elections having been completed, TRS MLAs and leaders are waiting for disbursal of nominated posts by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. It is not yet clear whether the CM will make these appointments before or after the Assembly Budget session, which is scheduled to commence from March 6.
Hopes were high among aspirants as the TRS leadership has earlier indicated that nominated posts will be filled after the municipal elections. Now that they too are over, ruling party legislators and leaders are anxiously awaiting distribution of the nominated posts.
It has been more than a year since TRS came to power for the second time. Citing the series of elections, the Chief Minister kept postponing filling up of nominated posts. He had earlier stated that around 30 MLAs will be awarded the various posts depending on their contribution to the party.
LB Nagar MLA D. Sudheer Reddy, who defected from the Congress to the TRS, has recently been made chairman of the Musi River Development Corporation. There are about 50 corporations in the state, including TSRTC, whose chairpersons are to be appointed. Besides, certain TRS leaders, who had been made chairpersons earlier, are continuing in their posts. Further, certain legislators, who could not be made ministers, were appointed chairpersons of corporations to pacify them. Some of the defected MLAs too have been promised some top posts.
Sources, say the Chief Minister has finalised the exercise for filling up these posts. But he is waiting for elections to the two Rajya Sabha seats to be over, which are expected to be won by the TRS given its majority.
