Kozhikode: The government has sanctioned Rs 13 crore for the Kozhikode Medical College for two new exam halls.
The health minister, K.K. Shailaja, told reporters here on Wednesday that they would accommodate 250 students each.
The Medical Council of India had recommended constructing three exam halls for the college which has 25 students in a batch.
So far there is only one permanent hall while two others are temporary. It was the strict directions from MCI that forced the state to allocate funds on a war footing.
The building would have car parking facility on the ground floor. On the second floor, there will be a facility to conduct theory exams and valuations.
The college has the highest number of medical students. Recently, the MCI granted permanent recognition to all its 250 seats. The government had ensured better infrastructure and facilities and strengthened the faculty in tune with its guidelines.
The permanent recognition was after assessing the existing facilities including hostels, exam halls, library, classrooms and the teacher-student ratio.
