Kadapa: Vivekananda Reddy’s aide among 3 held for murder
Kadapa: Pulivendula police arrested three persons accused of involvement in the murder of former MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy — his associate Yerra Gangi Reddy, personal assistant Krishna Reddy and son of his domestic help Prakash. They were sent to remand by a local court and sent to the Kadapa Central prison.
Vivekananda Reddy was murdered on March 15. The state government had set up a special investigation team but his daughter, Dr Nareddy Sunitha, and the YSRC had alleged political interference and sought a CBI probe.
The three were accused of tampering with evidence. Sources said Vivekananda Reddy was murdered in the bathroom but the the body was shifted to the bedroom.
It was stated that Gangi Reddy, a native of Teluru, Thonduru mandal, was associated with Vivekananda Reddy for three decades. A bachelor, he had started an oil business and began building a political career.
Police suspected Gangi Reddy’s involvement in this. Vivekananda Reddy’s relatives had handed over a letter to the police on the evening of the murder and Krishna Reddy was arrested over this. Prakash was arrested for washing the blood stains.
Sources said Krishna Reddy stayed with the body of Vivekananda Reddy for a long time. Police said Gangi Reddy was involved in making a bandage on the former MP’s head.
The SIT has questioned 50 witnesses. Two of Vivekananda Reddy’s aides, Parameshwara Reddy and Sekhar Reddy, are still in police custody.
