KT Rama Rao, Kavitha to draft guidelines for NRI Cell
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrshekhar Rao on Saturday announced that an NRI Cell with a Rs 50-crore fund would be set up to help NRIs during emergencies. He said that assistance would be available to NRIs from Telangana living in any country.
Mr Rao said that the NRI Cell would be headed by an IAS officer. He added that an NRI Committee comprising NRI representatives from various countries would also be set up to work in coordination with NRI Cell for the welfare of NRIs. He said that Rs 100 crore had been allocated for the welfare of NRIs in the state budget, and Rs 50 crore of that would be transferred to the NRI Cell. He said that the government was willing to allocate additional funds, if necessary.
The Chief Minister asked K.T. Rama Rao, the minister for NRI affairs, and MP K. Kavitha to prepare guidelines and action plans for the NRI Cell and the NRI Committee.
