Kothagudem: Villagers vow to boycott polls over water woes
Kothagudem: Locals of Narsaigudem of Bethampudi panchayat in Tekulapalli mandal in Bhadradri district have given an ultimatum to public representatives, political parties and officials that they would not participate in the elections of local bodies until the problems in their villages are solved.
Narsaigudem has limited water sources and they want to solve drinking water and irrigation problems in the village. Their allegation is that no official or public representative is coming to their village to solve their issues.Mr G. Chandraiah, a farmer said that they have been asking government to build a check dam on a stream to irrigate their lands. People are also facing drinking water problem and a drinking water scheme is the need of the hour. “We will not go to the polling station to vote,” he said, adding that all villagers were of the same opinion.
