Vijayawada: Officials neglected to find several dangerous areas in the Krishna River course area where arrangements are being made for Krishna Pushkaralu. Several areas like Seethanagaam, Sittammavari paadalu and some points at Prakasam barrage are risk zones.
The people usually enter in to the Krishna River without any knowledge on the location and facing trap in the whirlpool and finally drown in the water. But the revenue and police department has not conducted the meetings so far to find the dangerous zones for taking precautionary measures in ongoing Krishna pushkaram works.
According to reports, several areas are already identified as dangerous zones in the Krishna River course area. The sand digging operations and lack of frequent water flow in Krishna River change river flow area as dangerous spots. Several youth were trapped at various dangerous spots in Krishna River in past by unknowingly entered in to River and lost their life also
Actually the officials should identify the dangerous areas in Krishna River with taking information from irrigation department. Especially the luskars of the irrigation department are having knowledge on water flowing area conditions in the Krishna River.
The police, irrigation and revenue departments should take part in the meeting for identification of dangerous areas to take action to avoid the dangerous incidents. But the official machinery has not concentrated on the issue says one irrigation official on condition of anonymity. He said that they might take action in near future.
A Sivarami Reddy, native of Kunchanapalli said that the government sho-uld construct iron mesh in Krishna River and provide barricades at dangerous locations. He said that the government should also display sign boards.
