Accused in Sulwadi temple tragedy to stay in custody till June 4
Mysuru: The judicial custody of all four accused in Sulwadi temple prasada tragedy was extended till June 4 by Mr G Basavaraj, judge of Chamarajnagar district principal and sessions court, on Tuesday.
The accused, lodged in Mysuru central prison, could not be produced before the judge through video conference on Tuesday owing to network issues. Therefore, the judge directed local police to produce the accused in the court on June 4.
While the judge rejected the bail plea of the prime accused and junior seer of Salur Matha, Mahadevswamy, in March 2019, he rejected bail plea of other three accused—Ambika, Madesha and Doddaiah on May 3, 2019.
In all, 17 people died and 104 fell ill after they consumed prasada laced with poison on December 14, 2018, at Kichguth Maramma temple in Sulwadi in Hanur taluk, Chamarajnagar district.
