After photo-op, Andhra Pradesh staff returns Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Shifting of employees of heads of department offices to the AP capital area from Hyderabad by June 27, the deadline fixed by AP Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, appears to have ended as a one-day affair.
Most of the employees, who were in Vijayawada for the inauguration of the offices returned to Hyderabad the same night. They said it would take a while longer before they can shift permanently.
In what appears to be a publicity stunt, the office of a head of department of the finance department put up a banner stating that they had moved to Vijayawada.
The finance department’s pay and accounts office also put up a similar banner.
The inauguration of the ‘fake’ HoD office took finance department officials by surprise.
In reality, the HoDs of the finance department have taken a building at Ibrahimpatnam and it is under renovation. Some officials said their offices had still not been shifted to the capital area. Office files, furniture and other equipment are still at the Hyderabad offices. Some of the employees haven’t got residential accommodation.
As a mark of shifting the administration from Hyderabad to capital region, some HoDs inaugurated their offices. Some HoDs, however, have completely shifted from Hyderabad, and their employees are continuing.
Hyderabad still has the offices of HoDs and till Tuesday about 15 HoDs had started their offices in the capital region. About 20 HODs have rented buildings which are being renovation.
The finance department has rented a building in Ibrahimpatnam to locate its five HODs. Officials said that it would take a fortnight to complete the renovation. They expressed surprise seeing the news about the inauguration of one of the HODs in another office.
