No work for directorates in JNTU-Kakinada
Kakinada: A few directorates in the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada have almost nothing to do and the staff idle away. There is little to do even for the directors.
There is a growing demand that these directorates should either be reactivated or merged with others. Some of the other directorates which are fully functional are facing a staff. Employees from the idling directorates should be deployed there, sources said.
According to sources, the directorate of faculty development has trained 100 members for only three days in the ongoing academic year.
When vice-chancellor V.S.S. Kumar assumed charge, he said that he would give priority to better training of faculty in affiliated tech colleges. Sources said that the university has largely ignored this.
The Centre for Excellence for E-Resources Development and Deployment used to be engaged with e-content and other programmes.
After the contract with Globerena Technologies was cancelled following certain allegations, the work of the directorate is limited.
The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development used to buzz with activity one-and-a-half years back.
Programme director K.V. Ramana toured 10 districts with a concept of ‘Grow Your Idea’ to encourage startup programmes. The concept was later kept aside.
The university games and sports administration is not able to work effectively due to a funds crunch. The School of Health Sciences and Research has faced several allegations from the students. The university has stopped admissions.
