Visakhapatnam: Three persons from Kodupunjuvalasa in Araku mandal were hospitalised at the KGH here with symptoms of anthrax. They are from the same village from where five persons had tested positive for anthrax on Tuesday.
“Three persons have shown symptoms of anthrax. We are requesting the sarpanch and their family members to get admitted in King George Hospital for treatment,” said district medical and health officer Dr Uma Sundari.
She said the health secretary had visited Kodipunjuvalasa and asked the health officials to look for more people having anthrax symptoms.
Around 25 people consumed the meat of diseased animal around 20 days ago. The health secretary has asked the animal husbandry department to vaccinate all animals in the vicinity.
