Renovate Kakkanji's primary school: Madras High Court Bench

Madurai: The Madurai bench of the Madras High court on Friday directed the authorities to renovate the panchayat union primary school at Thumbaipatti, where freedom fighter Kakkan had studied.

Sarasukumar, grandson of Kakkan moved the court stating that students' strength in the school has come down to 150 due to lack of basic amenities. The building has developed cracks, toilets neglected and there was no water supply to the school. When the petition came up for hearing today, the government pleader informed the court that Revenue officials have prepared a Rs 7.94 lakh proposal to renovate the school. The court then directed to renovate the school within 4 weeks.
