Regional Parties Speak Language of Hate: Modi
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised regional parties for using language as a tool for politics and promoting hatred.
Speaking at the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam on the third anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) launch, Modi stated, " Bhasha ki rajneeti karke nafrat ki dukaan chalane walon ki dukan band ho jayegi Shutters will come down on all those who have opened up shops of hatred on the basis of politics over language. NEP will give due respect and credit to every language in the country."
He stressed that it is unjust to judge young people based on their language rather than their talent. He acknowledged the significance of different languages in the world and their contribution to the development of many countries. He cited his own use of Hindi at international forums like the United Nations, where translation may cause slight delays in applause, but it doesn't diminish the importance of language. "There are different languages in the world and all have their own importance... Most of the developed countries have progressed on the basis of their native language... Despite having so many native languages, we presented them as backward...," the PM said.
Modi highlighted India's position as a hub of new possibilities, with several countries expressing interest in establishing IIT campuses and global universities showing enthusiasm for setting up their campuses in India. "The world is looking at India as a nursery of new possibilities.
Many countries are approaching us to open IIT campuses there. Two IIT campuses -- one in Tanzania and one in Abu Dhabi -- are already about to start operations... Various global universities are also reaching out to us, expressing their interest in setting up campuses in India," Modi said.
He also released education and skill curriculum books translated into 12 Indian languages and initiated the first installment of funds under the PM SHRI Scheme for schools.
The NEP was designed to provide equal importance to traditional knowledge and futuristic technologies. It introduces a new 5+3+3+4 system of education, starting at the age of 3, to bring uniformity throughout the country.
The Prime Minister announced the approval of the National Research Foundation Bill in the Parliament and the impending release of the National Curriculum Framework under the NEP. He mentioned the efforts of stakeholders in education for developing new curricula, regional language books, and strengthening the research ecosystem.
The two-day Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam offers a platform for various stakeholders, including academics, policymakers, industry representatives, teachers, and students, to share insights and best practices for implementing and advancing the NEP 2020.
