Diesel at all-time high of Rs 75.24 per litre
Hyderabad: The price of diesel has hit an all-time high in Telangana state, on Tuesday with the price of a litre touching Rs 75.24, while the highest recorded so far was on May 25, 2018, at Rs 75.64 per litre. Petrol price too has touched Rs 82.66 per litre, the second highest in the year so far. Dealers are expecting the price to increase by another 50 to 60 paisa in the state and higher across India until the weak rupee gains strength. The fuel prices in India have been increasing since August 16, after the rupee dropped to its lowest against the dollar.
TS Petroleum Dealers Association general secretary G. Vinay said, “Petrol and diesel prices are on a rise across India. However, they vary from state to state because of the difference in the Value Added Tax. Currently, the TS government has set the slab at 33 per cent, lesser than Andhra Pradesh. Fuel is cheaper in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka when compared to TS because the VAT per cent is less. Prices of diesel and petrol are likely to increase until the rupee stabilises.” On Tuesday, petrol in other metro cities on was being sold at Rs 78.05 in Delhi, Rs 85.47 in Mumbai and Rs 81.09 in Chennai.
