KMCT Medical College walks off with Rs 10 lakh as fees
Kochi: The KMCT Medical College, Kozhikode, which got sanction for 150 MBBS seats from the Union ministry of health and family welfare the other day has been allowed to levy a fee of Rs 10 lakh on each seat provisionally by the Admission Supervisory and Fee Regulatory Committee headed by Justice J.M. James.
In an order late on Tuesday approving the prospectus of the college, the committee said this and added that the variation in fees, as would be regulated, will be binding on the admitted students as well as the medical college.
The committee also asked the medical college to submit audited financial statements, other income and expenditure records, vouchers, receipts, the faculties’ infrastructure, expenditure and all other records of last five years before it for fee regulation. It shall be done within 15 days from Tuesday. The college was asked to submit the bank guarantee.
Meanwhile the Sree Gokulam Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram has set apart 50 seats of the 100 additional intake allowed by the ministry of health and family welfare the other day, for government quota. The college had entered into an agreement with the state for sharing 50 per cent of the 50 MBBS seats it originally had, in government quota.
The fee applicable to other medical colleges that entered into an agreement with the government is applicable here also. The admission will be conducted in a spot admission on the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College to be conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations on Friday
Kannur Medical College which did not sign an agreement with the government is having a fee of Rs 10 lakh on 85 per cent seats while in 15 percent NRI seats it is having Rs 18 lakh fee. For Karuna Medical College which also did not sign an agreement with the government, the fee for 85 percent seats is Rs 7.5 lakh while the NRI fee is still not known.
