Hyderabad: The Hyderabad district election authority has shifted all EVMs and voter verifiable paper audit trails (VVPATs) to the 15 distribution, reception and counting centres (DRCs) in Hyderabad district.
The 8,304 ballot units (BUs), 6,590 control units (CUs) — main components of the EVMs —and 6,409 VVPATs , have been shifted from Victory Playground in Chaderghat. Nizam College in Basheerbagh, LB Stadium, and A.V. College (Domalguda) are some locations where DRCs have been set up. “A three-tier security system is in place and CCTV cameras have been installed at all the DRCs,” said an official.
Randomisation of EVMs will be done at DRCs before they are sent to polling stations. As a part of this exercise, the EVMs are randomly selected through a computerised process to be sent to each constituency.
