Excise inspector caught with money suspended
Warangal: Deputy commissioner of prohibition and excise department G. Anjan Rao has issued orders suspending Warangal Urban excise inspector A. Anjith Rao for dereliction of duty by leaving the headquarters without permission.
Inspector Anjith Rao was caught with a bag full of cash by Congress leaders while he was travelling in his personal car along with his identity card near a hotel on the outskirts of Chengicherla village in Medchal district on Tuesday.
When they asked for the documents for the money and why he was carrying the huge amount of money, the inspector, without giving them a proper response, indulged in an argument with them.
During which one of the Congress activists slapped the inspector alleging that apart from violating the model code of conduct (MCC), the inspector by misusing his power, was illegally transporting the money, which allegedly belonged to BRS candidate and minister Ch. Malla Reddy for distribution among voters.
With the complaint lodged by the Congress leaders, the officials of the Election Commission, along with police, rushed to the spot seized the money and registered a case against the excise inspector. The video of the incident went viral on social media.
Taking serious note of the incident, the deputy commissioner of the excise department suspended Anjith Rao from his services as disciplinary proceedings were contemplated against him and issued orders to him not to leave the headquarters without obtaining previous permission of the undersigned authorities.
