BRS violated court order for constructing T-News channel building: PIL

Hyderabad: A PIL has been filed before the Telangana High Court seeking a direction to the state government to resume the one acre (4,840 square yard) land allotted to the BRS on Road No. 12 Banjara Hills at a meagre price of Rs 100 per square yard when the market price of the land into hundreds of crores.

Former MLC and Congress leader S. Ramulu Naik filed the PIL contending that the then TRS was allotted the one acre land for construction of its party office towards which GO. No. 955 revenue (Assn.III) Dept. (dated 27-11-2004) was issued.

The GO’s No. 2 says “land allotted to the party office should not be utilised either in full or in part for any residential or commercial purpose or alienated to any person or institution”.

In blatant violation, the party established T-News channel in the same building for commercial purpose in the name of Telangana Broadcasting Private Limited.

Further, the then government had released an astounding over Rs 11 crore to the channel towards payment of advertisements in 2014 and 2015. It continued to do likewise in the subsequent years.

Further, Naik submitted that he had made numerous representations to the chief secretary, principal secretary (revenue) and CCLA on 13-11-2020 with a plea to seize the said land and resume it. However, no action was taken on the representation.
