3 Dead at Home, 3 Attempt Suicide in Kolkata
Three women were found dead at home, while three male family members attempted suicide in a car crash. Police suspect financial crisis led to tragedy.

Kolkata: Two women and a teenaged girl of a family were found dead with their wrists slit under mysterious circumstances at their multi-storeyed house in Tangra of the city on Wednesday.
The treble deaths however came to light only after three male members of the family were injured when their car, in which they were travelling, dashed a pillar on EM Bypass near Ruby Crossing at dawn.
The injured– Pranay Dey, his brother Prasun and his ten-year-old nephew Pratip– were admitted to a nearby private hospital while their car, a sedan, was impounded by the police. Cops questioned them at the hospital later and stumbled upon shocking details.
Pranay and Prasun, who are middle aged, have a leather business. They told the police that they along with Pratip had tried to end their lives by rash driving that led to the road accident. They also blamed poor financial conditions in their business behind their drastic step.
Further questioning revealed another horror at their home. Pranay and Prasun claimed to police that they had Payes (pudding) with sleeping pills at dinner with their wives and children on Tuesday. Later three female members of their family committed suicide.
A police team rushed to their three-storeyed house and found bodies of Romi Dey, Sudeshna Dey and Priyambada Dey (14) lying with their wrists slit in three different rooms on the first floor. Neck injuries were found on Romi and Sudeshna.
Blood stains were also found on Priyambada’s face. A knife, which was perhaps used in inflicting the injuries, was recovered from a room. Romi and Priyambada were the wife and daughter of Pranay. Sudeshna was the wife of Prasun.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma, who inspected the spot, said, “No suicide note was found. We are verifying information we got but can't reveal everything now.”
