Kozhikode: The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIMK) completed its placement process for the post-graduate programme in a record seven days. Last year, the institution had completed the placement process within ten days.
Interestingly, five students opted out of the procedure even before the placement process began to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. Fourteen new international brands including Bank of America, McKinsey, Boston Consulting group, Shell and ‘Ernest and Young’ were the first-timers to recruit IIMK students.
IIMK placement cell chairperson AF Mathews told DC that consulting firms topped the list of recruiters this year making a total of 99 offers to 28 percent of the batch.
The major names among recruiters include ‘Frost and Sullivan’, JP Morgan Chase and Accenture Management Consulting. Mr Mathews also said that the profile of the recruiters was high with world renowned brands opting for IIMK wards.
The IIMK placement team is upbeat about the grand success. “For us it was a huge responsibility as well as training. But we enjoyed it and learned the tricks of the trade in bagging placements in targeted firms”, said Aaruni Chawla, first year student in the placement team.
Another student member Saurabh Vashishth told DC that the placement procedure of the institution was hundred percent transparent. “None of our students were forcibly signed out as is the case in some institutions to ensure early completion of placement procedures”, he added.
