Chennai: Two students of a reputed engineering college were debarred from sitting for semester examination for failing in a subject and not submitting assignments on time. They were asked to write assignments 40 times.
Academicians feel that by not complaining to the management, parents are enhancing such regimentation.
Students were not only made to write the assignment 40 times but also asked to stand outside in the heat for a long time. “I did not give the assignment on time and the college made me fail in the subject. But that was not all, they made me and another class mate write the assignment 40 times,” said an agitated student requesting anonymity.
Another student from the same college requesting anonymity said, “They gave us just four days. It was a long assignment and I could not finish it completely. I wrote some 30 times. The professor called us in front of the class and harassed us and made us stand outside the classroom under the sun.”
