Andhra Pradesh: Income-tax names, shames tax evaders
Hyderabad: The income-tax department has named two tax defaulters from Andhra Pradesh in its name and shame list on Thursday. They are part of 24 defaulting individuals and companies, who owe about Rs 490 crores in taxes to the exchequer. The two AP-based defaulters are Mudiyanur Mohan Rao and Devaranchetty Satyanarayana. Mohan Rao, who is based in Kadapa, had reported business income and long-term capital gains.
He owed Rs 4.62 crore tax for the assessment year 2008-09. Satyanarayana, who is involved in cotton business in Vijayawada, owes Rs 4.44 crores for FY2009. Both the defaulters had reported to have inadequate assets to pay the tax arrears. The maximum tax dues of over '86.27 crores is against a Delhi-based company named Stock Guru India.
